Responsible BSCI production
The manufacturer is certified as responsible production through BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), which ensures that the production of the products takes place under good conditions. Some of the requirements are for building safety, working conditions (working hours, wages etc) which are reviewed and audited unannounced by third party auditor SGS every year.
No waste of hides in production
Production is planned so that all skin is used up according to Zero Waste principles. After the smallest products, e.g. key rings, is made, the rest is used for recycled leather (bonded leather) which is used in belts or for sandal soles and other products, so that all the leather is used up.
Vegetable tanned and dyed leather
In vegetable tanning, the manufacturer uses tree bark and plant extracts to tan the leather instead of conventional tanning, where chromium salts (chemicals) are used. This means no chemicals are used in vegetable tanning production.
Leather from LWG audited tannery
Leather Working Group (LWG) is a global organization that enforces environmental and social standards for leather tanneries. Requirements include water and energy consumption, wastewater management, air pollution and adherence to vegetable tanning practices. All leathers comes from LWG audited tannery.
